We’re excited to share that we have plans in the works for a lovely farmstand that will be conveniently located closer to the main road.
Until that becomes a reality, we kindly ask that visits to the farm be limited and made by appointment only out of respect for our neighbors.
We truly appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work towards enhancing your experience with us. We look forward to welcoming you soon! -
Are children welcome at the farm, and do you offer tours?
Yes, children are welcome. To maintain strict biosecurity controls for our rare poultry and to remain respectful of our rural neighbors, our farm is not open for general public walk-ins or standard leisure tours.
Instead, we exclusively offer scheduled visits and private farm tours to customers who are actively picking up livestock or are coordinating large and wholesale orders. If you fall into one of these categories, please schedule your family's visit with us directly when finalizing your purchase.
We will gladly share when we are able to open up the farm a bit more for scheduled visits, photography, and micro-weddings. -
Our farm is defined by a commitment to responsible, sustainable practices and the preservation of agricultural traditions right here in California's Gold Country. Unlike mass-market operations, we focus entirely on the deep relationship between our land, our livestock, and the thoughtful products we create.
Here is what sets us apart:
Heritage Poultry Preservation: We steward, breed, and raise rare chicken and goose breeds on the Livestock Conservancy List. Our focus is on the genetic conservation and breeding to the Standard of Perfection rather than mass production.
We currently have bantam Cochin in several colors, black and recessive white bantam and large fowl Langshan, and a couple of project lines for “strawberry” egg layers and meat.
We also have buff American geese, as well as flock-bred birds for those looking for pets or meat birds.
These birds are mostly Embden, with Pilgrim, grey Saddleback Pomeranian, American, and Roman lines bred in for temperament, a bit of color here and there, and to reduce any consanguinity.Heirloom Produce: We cultivate diverse, flavorful heirloom varieties that thrive naturally in our regional climate, keeping agricultural history alive on your plate. Our orchard won’t be ready for a few years, but we are adding new pink and red fleshed apple varieties each year. Heirloom perennials including pomegranates and artichokes are thriving in the gardens, and annuals fill in the beds and provide ground cover and an oasis for pollinators.
Thoughtful Sourcing: Every item in our home and skincare line is handcrafted with a strict focus on ingredient integrity. We incorporate high-quality local ingredients whenever possible, and when specialized supplies must be shipped in, we intentionally source them from suppliers as close to home as we can to minimize our footprint.
If we order from distant countries, we do our best to middle men and instead purchase from co-ops that allow locals to continue their lifestyle and thrive.
By avoiding trendy shortcuts and prioritizing ethical sourcing, we deliver high-performance, affordable luxury that respects both the land and your body.

Heritage poultry and heirloom produce are historic varieties and livestock breeds that people have preserved for generations. While commercial farms often focus on fast growth and uniform appearance, we care most about flavor, natural strength, and genetic diversity. We raise rare poultry breeds listed by the Livestock Conservancy Conservation Priority List. These historic breeds retain vital, natural traits lost in industrial farming—such as extreme weather tolerance, exceptional foraging skills, and long, healthy outdoor lifespans. By breeding these specific birds, we are actively protecting America's agricultural biodiversity and ensuring these invaluable bloodlines do not disappear.
Our crops and orchard trees follow a similar philosophy of preservation. We source our seeds and heritage trees exclusively from companies and organizations dedicated to seed saving and the protection of historic varieties. This includes crops derived from ancient, climate-adapted seed lineages with a focus on drought-, heat-, and fire-resistant varieties. Some of our ancient tree varieties trace their lineage back to the Roman Empire. Many were carefully bred by a UC Berkeley professor specifically for California farmers and gardeners mid-century 1900s.
specialize, for example, in cultivating rare apples with vibrant pink and red flesh. By growing these strains, we harvest climate-resilient crops perfectly adapted to our local environment while honoring deep agricultural histories. -
We carefully formulate our soap bars and cosmetics for everyone, focusing on high-quality ingredients without skimping to create luxurious, affordable products.
Our queen of bubbles and formulator has Celiac Disease, and she helps to keep the line free from many common ingredients that can cause sensitivities or allergies.
The only exception is our beer soap, which contains gluten. When in part of our rotation, beer soap is packaged to avoid cross contamination on our curing racks as well as at markets.
We use rice straw and hulls for animal bedding. Their diet does contain gluten, which is no longer an issue in composted and well-rotted compost & mulch.
While we are careful while tending to our gardens, handling produce, and in soap & cosmetic production, our facilities are not completely free of gluten or tree nut fats. We provide ingredient lists on all soaps and cosmetics outside of our Zero Waste soap bars. As always, please ask if you have questions. We’re here to help. -
We intentionally choose to formulate without the most common allergy-causing tree nut oils, such as sweet almond oil. We also avoid peanuts and most other legumes.
However, we do use specialized plant butters like shea butter. While shea is technically derived from a tree nut, it is widely used in skincare and processed differently than most culinary or cosmetic nut oils.Because individual sensitivities vary, a complete list of ingredients is clearly printed on every product label so you can make the best choice for your needs. The exception is our Zero Waste soap, which will almost always contain tree nut fats such as shea, illipe, and kokum butters. Have a question? Need help picking out the right item for you? Please send us a message. As always, we’re happy to help.
